Mick Conroy has set up a MySpace for Modern English at www.myspace.com/modernenglish2009 which includes on its on line player three tracks from the new 'Soundtrack' album. They are 'The Lowdown', 'Bomb', 'Soundtrack To A Life' and 'Up In The Brain'.
I LOVE this era of music. I was never acquainted with the band until this decade. I saw them in middle-of-nowhere syracuse NY outside a soccer game in 2003 with Flock of Seagulls. It was sparsely attended but they put on a good show anyways. I'd see them if they came here to San francisco.
So, my post is to ask: what is the source of the live tunes at that myspace link? Particularly the version of Gathering Dust? I love it. The guitar sound and the pace of it feels like a re invention and I'd like to hear more of the same.
In answer to your question about the live tracks they are from a 1986 concert recording at Daytona Beach. The details of the recording can be found here as it was released on vinyl for radio play (see Spin Radio Concert site.modernenglish.me/discography_video.html )
