Nothing happens for ages and then two things happen at once. I have just had it confirmed that the band will be heading off to Menorca, Spain on Friday 27th April for two weeks to work on the tracks they started last year and to work on new material being brought in by each of the band members. The plan is to hone the tracks and record them so by mid May they will have some new songs ready for producing for a 2012 release. The guys are keeping their cards close to their chests on the details but we all hope it goes well. This will be the first time the reformed line up will have written and recorded new songs since 1984. Pretty monumental wouldn't you say?
this should be interesting. I wonder how it will turn out? There have been some bands that have recently put an album out after so many years of separation - like OMD and The Cars. I'ts interesting to see the 80s make a revival of some kind.
I hope this new album revives a good amount of interest in the band.
I think this is monumental as you say. I hope the songs reflect the maturity seen on the Soundtrack release especially the title track and Fin. I guess it should be a great time to chill and be creative. I have my fingers crossed for a timely release. Will Hugh Jones be producing I think he certainly adds something to the bands sound.....

I've just recieved an exciting update from Robbie:
Hi Richard, Well the news I can think off right now is the 'I Melt With You movie soundtrack came out with new version of 'I Melt With You' on it. We wrote some new song ideas last summer, thats Gary, me, Mick and Steve on the keyboards between tours. I worked on vocals and lyrics before I left the UK to go to Thailand then also in Thailand I recieved more ideas from Mick. One just on the bass was really exciting, so I worked on those also, with the logic music program. There are maybe 4 or 5 good ideas-songs to finish off on this songwriting expedition to steves apartment in Spain plus we will work on new ideas and probably develop some of the other ones already started. We leave on Friday 27th April for 2 weeks.should be fun!!! On a slightly different note I fell off a ladder working on my house in Thailand. I fractured my wrist in 3 places, and had my arm in plaster for 8 weeks. It is off now and its healing well. Should be ok for touring USA in July, of which more to follow when we have finished details. Also concerts in UK pencilled in for early September. More news to follow. thanks. Robbie.

I've just had the following message from Mick in Spain:
Hi Richard been here for 3 days.. guitars and macs. Internet connections are intermittent .. So we have been working flat out so far.. good stuff... I might take some pics for twitter..., I'm in a cafe with wi fi round the corner... first break today. take care Mick
And in answer to ansaw's question the plan is that Hugh will be producing the new material. He has already said he would be willing to (see his interview on this forum) even though he has officially retired.

Just had a new message from Steve Walker (keyboards); Rehearsal's are going well and new material for the new album is coming along, we will be playing a couple of new songs on these dates. Also there should be a new film/video of Hands across the sea finished quite soon.
Anticipation, Jubilation, Holy Carnation, Relaxation, and Exhilaration are the only words that I can describe about this…speechless! We want it all when it comes out, video, albums, press! You guys are killing us making us wait! That’s the problem, we can’t wait! Bring it On! Cheers!

I've just had an email from Mick Conroy with the latest information on the new songs as the bands plans to record them:
Right now we are looking at concentrating on new recordings. We are trying to get a space, here in Suffolk to record almost in a live setting. We want it to sound more dynamic. We have been doing more work on songs like ‘Summer’ and ‘Come Out of Your Hole’. We have a pretty good, short song called ‘Dark Cloud’, a song called ‘Take a Swim’ and another one called ‘Fatally Flawed’. We could end up setting up our rehearsal space to do the recordings, a space that has a lively, reverby sound... then recording, and eventually pressing cd's /artwork etc. it will get done, then we can sell them on the site and on tour.
That's really cool news Richard! Joined with 'Stop Start album' drummer Roy Martin!!?? **** That's Really Awesome! Cannot WAIT to hear this new album! I hope the guys tour again after making this new album too.

The drummer on the actual Stop Start album was a session drummer called Graham Broad but when it came to organising the promotional tour of the US Roy Martin, from Liverpool, was brought in and got on so well with the band that they invited him to be the drummer on Pillow Lips. They'd wanted him to be involved in the reformed line up but he's been in the States. He's back in the UK now and jumped at the chance to play with the boys again. Read an interview with him about the Stop Start tour here imeltwithyou.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=stopstart&action=display&thread=135

Hi Guys, Sorry I haven't posted anything up for a while but I do have some news having met with the band recently. The first thing to say is that they have decided not to tour for the rest of the year [Ahh!] because they are going to be finishing off writing and recording the new tracks [Yay!]. They have either finished, as in Moonbeam, Dark Cloud and Come Out Of Your Hole, or have sketched out 8-10 songs which they will be working on from now until October when they plan to record them all 'live' in the studio and then either distribute to a range of music companies to get a release deal or to release themselves. It will depend on the quality of the recordings as to whether they will be deemed demo's or the final released versions. They have decided they will focus on getting the songs finished and recorded this year which is why they have decided against touring. It seems very likely that Roy Martin will stay as their drummer, possibly on a permanent basis. I didn't get given much detail about the other new songs except that they are different from anything they have done before but have been written in the same way they did back before After The Snow with the band jamming the initial ideas and then honing them down into the finished songs. This is why they need to focus the time to get them finished. They have also discussed the idea of getting Hugh Jones back from retirement to produce and have also spoken to Martyn Young about possibly remixing some of the songs.
I adore the new record which I rediscovered during Modern English's stint during Retro Futura 2017 Tour! #Moonbeam was killing it on tour when performed live! Love Take Me to The Trees! Bloody brilliant Record indeed! And seeing the original members was a bonus I didn't count on bas it had changed various time through out the decades! Not to date myself... or the band for that matter! #ENRGYZRBunny
