On HMV & Amazon After The Snow is still available on CD but Mesh & Lace is still unavailable (though of course all three are available via the Modern English store site - www.modernenglishstore.com/ ).

No, these aren't remastered, just the 1990 release re-issued. I know the guys are in discussions with 4AD so like you Kraig hope they can get remastered. I know the guys weren't too happy with the quality of the 1990 releases and would love to remaster then. We'll have to wait and see.

Mick has just dropped me a line on what it happening over the re-issues. Apparently 4AD had a large amount of stock destroyed in the riots last Summer. Therefore they have decided to re-press a lot of their releases including Mesh & Lace, After The Snow and Ricochet Days. So it isn't a re-issue it is a re-pressing. The positive thing is that it has created some promotion across the websites and music stores who are treating them as re-issues.
Interesting! I wish the guys would remater, re-issue, and bring out the old material with extras, such as a 2 CD + DVD set for each album...The Jesus and Mary Chain did this and is very nicely done by Rhino, Edsel DMV records...nonetheless, looking forward to the new material from the "original lineup"...think i should post this on the site?
Since After The Snow was 1982 and, gulp, THIRTY YEARS OLD now, it's also scary to think that it is now TWENTY YEARS AGO that the Modern English albums hit CD. These are great collections and compile all the B-sides but I'd still love to see modern remastering given to all three albums (those late 80s, early 90s CDs were still mastered quiet compared to today's CDs and MP3s). I'm not suggesting mucking with the dynamics, simply giving them an amplification to modern sound levels. Otherwise, I love listening to AtS, M&L and Ricochet Days regularly. Still a joy to listen to!

Hi AD212 (top marks for your forum name), in reply to your posting all I can say is that the band feel exactly the same and have been pressing 4AD for years to let them have a go at remastering the original tracks. Discussions are continuing but there is nothing firm on the horizon.
